Greetings from scenic South Jersey
It seems like about 3 posts ago I was nervous about starting back at school, and now I'm done 1 semester and a straight A student to boot, though the fact that 100% of my class is also straight A students makes me wonder a little about grade inflation. Anyhoo, I'm in the middle of my unexpected week of vacation before starting as a teacher (eek) and due to a series of unfortunate events I'm alone all week. Back in my teenage heyday I killed to have the house to myself, but now it's not quite as welcome. Add a rainy day to the mix and Alexis has a lot of entertaining herself to do. There have been a lot of bike rides and walks, and I've seen more movies in a recent 18 hour period than in all of 2006 combined. Granted it was only 2, but still. World Trade Center, like any movie for which I have high expectations, was not as good as I expected. I thought it was well done and entertaining, but didn't quite restore my faith in humanity to the level promised. B. But definitely go if you're in the mood to sniffle in a dark room with strangers for 2 hours. The Devil Wears Prada on the other hand was excellent. A-. I don't particulary like Meryl Streep in general but she was ridiculous in this. I actually thought the movie was better than the book for once. They made some changes that were jarring at first but ended up making the main character more likeable, which is always good for a movie.
Those are my movie reviews for today, expect another in about 9 months. For now, I'm off to the beach; the forecast for the rest of the week is Sunsational! (weather man's words, not mine)
