As a former aspiring meteorologist, I probably pay a little more attention to weather than the average person trying to figure out what to wear. So maybe I'm just sensitive, but I don't understand why in recent heat waves reporters have decided they need to use the term "feels like" instead of heat index. "The feels like is 110." That's not even a sentence. If you really think "heat index" is too complicated, is it that hard to say "The heat index, which is what it feels like, is" or "It feels like"? Or just don't say anything! If someone's really dying to talk about the hot weather, they'll just want to say the highest temperature they've heard all day, they won't care if it's true. This is why American students are failing at life, because the people in charge have so little faith in the public that they think people can't understand anything over 1st grade level.
As for rant #2, all I've been hearing on WIP is the dismal expectations for the Eagles season, predicated on the lack of defense and offense, including QB Donovan McNabb. Did I miss the memo that McNabb sucks? More here
