You think Butterstick looks sad there? Imagine how I looked when I arrived at the zoo at 9am this morning to find him napping in a little ditch that was not visible to the public. 9:15....9:20...9:30...Butterstick's not coming out.
Oh, oh, here comes Mama Butterstick, maybe she's gonna wake up baby so he can do something adorable!
Nope.
And guess what? All the other animals at the zoo are doing exactly what you'd be doing at 9am on a brisk Februray morning if you had the choice: sleeping snuggly in their houses. There was one giraffe wandering around, and there 's (right) the lone kangaroo slumped in the corner eating breakfast (note this animal requires a disclaimer on its pen [No, this kangaroo is not hurt, it just has arthritis because it's 20 years old. We're doing our best to keep it alive]).
The best part of the morning was waiting for Butterstick with a group of 5-year-old girls discussing their birthday parties:
1: I can't decide where to have my birthday party this year. Maybe I'll have it at the zoo. That would be so fun.
2: I went to a party at the zoo and it was sooo fun and we saw bears.
Alpha girl: Parties at the zoo are really dumb and boring. I wouldn't come if you had your party at the zoo. Anyway, birthday parties are only cool if it's your own birthday.
1: Yeah Laura (2), zoo parties are really really really really boring.
2: I hate zoo parties.
