Thanks for letting a sister roll...

Keep it pimpin'

On the way home for the holidays I heard the new Gwen Stefani song (the one that sounds like "Juicy" but crappier). I like Gwen, though I'm not a big fan of her music (ie: if I was ever holding hostages and the police wanted to get me to surrender by playing annoying music as they sometimes do, that "Cool" song would be a good choice). But this song makes me wonder: what has she done that has made black people adopt her as one of their own? Is she blackmailing them? Juicy is arguably the most famous song by one of black peoples' favorite black people. Shouldn't there be some kind of special process you have to go through to when requesting to sample that? Like promise you're going to do it justice? I don't understand.

I meant to bring up another thing the other day about Law & Order: The past few episodes of SVU have gotten me a little concerned b/c they've involved catching the person through their IP address and internet info. I know there's no privacy with the internet and it doesn't stop me from using it as a medium to spread all my private info, but still, I don't like being reminded of it. The last one even ended up with a blogger being arrested for comments she made about suicide. Granted she was instructing readers about suicide, and stay pretty far from that topic. But if I ever get arrested for hate crimes, I sure hope that whole lesbian/khakis thing doesn't come back to haunt me.

If you're talking about Luxurious, I don't get it either, but that song gets stuck in my head all the time.

You what makes me irritated (besides agreeing with you that she ruined a great beat to a great song)? This: "Work so hard every night and day and now we get the payback..." Umm, Gwennie, I work a lot harder than chillin' with Eve for street cred, wearing white girl bindis, and getting knocked up by Rossdale. Full time job, part-time school, part-time second job, and drinking habit. Can you kick some of that payback my brokeass way? I can't afford a digital camera. Gwen gets her own Japanese posse and a ghetto pass for recording progressively terrible music. Where is the justice?
