When random acts of kindness attack
I went over to George Mason the other day to pick up Kanye West tickets, and I wanted to run some errands on the way back. I made a wrong turn out of campus, so I turned into a school parking lot to turn around. I pretty much knew where I was, but there were no trespassing signs everywhere and I was getting death stares from the teachers walking around so I figured I should explain myself by asking questions. Of course when I stopped to ask for directions, neither person I talked to had any idea what roads or stores I was talking about, but the one woman, bearing a striking resemblance to Miss Lippy from Billy Madison, thought she knew what direction I was heading in and offered to let me follow her. And by offer I mean insisted. Even though I said no thanks. Like 8 times. So naturally, I waited until she started walking to her car and then sped off. I thought I was in the clear but she must have caught up to me when I got stuck at a light because next thing I knew she's sailing by me, pointing and grinning sadistically for me to follow her. We were actually going the same way so I didn't have much of a choice until I got to my road and turned right. I was free for about 3 blocks and then I see her coming down a side street! She proceeded to cut me off again with the pointing and the grinning. Fortunately several blocks later she reached her destination. But before she left me, she pulled over to the right and made some ridiculous gestures to indicate where I should go, then swerved around my back, nearly caused an accident, and pulled up on my left to yell the directions out her window. And after all that, I actually was lost and ended up back home some time later without accomplishing anything I'd set out to do.
Funniest thing I saw this week: Riding my bike along the Mt. Vernon trail, I noticed Super Intense Biker #1 speeding along followed closely by Super Intense Biker #2. #1 slows to just 25 mph to take a swig of water and spits it out over his shoulder. Right into the face of Biker #2. hahaha.
