Making the Switch
In approximately 1-5 business days, I will become a member of the Apple as the proud owner of a new MacBook computer. And by new I mean brand-spanking, debuted-about-6-hours-before-I-ordered-it new. I "need" a laptob for my upcoming educational endeavors, and I've been looking at the ibooks for awhile, admittedly because I feel like they're cool. Plus everyone who uses one raves about it like its their child. I've never had serious problems with PCs (at least as far as I can remember [except for the time I tried to add/delete software and deleted Windows], probably in large part due to the fact my father takes control over all computer maintenance.), and while I'm relatively computer saavy I don't use them for anything but internet and typing so in theory I should probably go for the cheapest most basic one out there. However, considering their excellent reviews, ibooks are pretty reasonably priced (especially with the discounts offered for schools), and they seem great, so I made the decision to buy for my birthday.
I went on the site yesterday just to check prices and options for the 500th time, and in the ibook's spot was the MacBook. Exactly like the ibook, except awesomer (superfast intel double processor, more memory, 13-in screen, camera) and just marginally more expensive. I talked to the live chat rep who assured me that, as advertised, it's just as quiet, light, easy as the ibook, but better (and cooler). Having no idea how it will actually run and whether or not all the bugs have been ironed out, I put my trust in Apple and went for it. So, in 1-5 business days when I'm the first kid on the block with the MacBook, if you see me at Starbucks typing away while listening to my ipod, perhaps eating sushi with a yoga mat next to me, you should probably just walk on by because I'll be way too cool to talk to you.
