Thanks for letting a sister roll...

Keep it pimpin'

There were some tense, tense moments yesterday between UConn losing and me realizing I'd lose my pools if Nova won and Nova losing. But even though they would have cost me a win and $$, I was sorry to see Nova go down. Yell at me all your want for being a traitor for liking a Georgetown rival and the least-favorite Big 5 team, but they're my hometown team and I like them. Plus, I guess it's the girl in me, but when it comes down to it I always feel a little bad for the losing team in the tournament. They're just kids, and I can only imagine the intensity of the emotions. Especially when a senior comes out of the game at the end of a losing effort, and you know it's quite possibly the last game they'll ever play. And if they start crying? I was a wreck after the St. Joe's loss 2 years ago...it hasn't happened since then, but it's never out of the question.

It sort of sucks that everyone's brackets are basically done with a weekend left, but I guess there's no choice but to root for George Mason with the rest of the country. I usually like my Cinderella teams from more appealing, non-commuter schools with a better backstory, but I'll take the tale of an 11 seed toppling monster competition. 11's from questionable conferences make it to the Sweet 16, not the Final Four, it really is crazy. And they could win it all given the teams and the unpredictability of this year's tournament. (Last year was great with all the OT games, but this year has just been unbelievable. Almost every game has gone down to the wire if not OT.) Plus, the coach's son lives in the bf's building and is a really nice guy and so happy about everything, so I'd be happy for him if they won.

In conclusion, 44 correct picks out of a possible 63. 12 out of 16 Sweet 16, 7 out of 8 elite 8 teams, and then complete bracket decimation going into the Final Four. Yet still, victory in all 3 pools.
