Thanks for letting a sister roll...

Keep it pimpin'

Snoozefest at the Oscars last night...I flipped between 3 Law & Orders and Steel Magnolias and was still bored by the telecast. If they're so worried about keeping it short that they cut off every speech after 20 seconds, why did they include those interminable montages that had nothing to do with anything? Three 6 Mafia of course was a highlight (representing the PHL no less), but even that couldn't live up to my father explaining in musical form earlier in the day his thoughts on why "It's Hard Out Here For a Pimp" would win for best song. Oh and did anyone notice Audrey from Dawson's Creek sitting next to Jen in the front row?

Nothing notable fashion-wise either, although I didn't get to see too much (I thought one fashion blunder was Jessica Alba's dress, but apparently it's being selected as best of the night, so what do I know), I missed the red carpet because I was on the road back from a quick visit home, 80s style. Despite the $6 Amstel Lights and the Liquor Control Board threatening to confiscate camera, an excellent/crazy time was had by all.

Finally, congratulations to me for a clean sweep in the annual family Oscar pool. After several disappointing years, I came back with a vengance, predicting the winner in every category and reclaiming my spot as #1 family member, a spot I'd held until circa 2004, when my brother transfered to Penn, fulfilling my grandmother's dream of having her progeny at either Penn or Notre Dame and prompting her to say "Jared's really caught up to you. I bet you can't even beat him in Jeopardy! these days."

Yeah good job your proving your an alpha child by having more time to see these movies and read reviews and figure out which one will win.

hey thanks -- v. much looking forward to it. it's probably creepy-sounding to invite y'all out, but my friends and i are very much of the more-the-merrier ilk, so if you get the wild hair... I know we are gracing Shamrock Fest, among other things.

re: Oscars -- even with the Jon Stewart infusion, my interest remained largely still unpiqued. Oh, well.

I definitely noticed Audrey sitting next Michelle Williams, and I ineffectively tried explaining who it was to Mike and Ed.

Wait - you picked every category correctly? What categories did that include? Every one presented live on TV? That's plain incredible.
