I'm never doubting US Weekly again
Amid the snoozy post-dinner conversation and triptophan-induced lethargy Thanksgiving night came the shocking news: Nick and Jessica are no more. After months of suspicions and denials, and me defending them against the slanderous break-up accustaions from Us Weekly, the truth could no longer be denied. When I found out Nick spent his birthday and attended the AMAs alone, it was hard to believe everything was ok between them, but the official news was still a blow. Just a few years ago, they were inseparable; now he's busy working for ESPN, she has her drinking problem, and the dream is over. If those two can't make it (knowing what divorce will do to their merchandising options), who can? And on the heels of that break up comes news that Talan and Kimberly Steward called off their engagement! I may have to stop believing in love.
Other than that, the Thankgiving weekend was relaxing and gluttonous, as promised. Two bowls of soup and pre-meal snacking hurt my performance in the first meal, but I still gained 3 pounds by 5pm and dominate at the 2nd meal. Despite missing the excitement of being trampled to death trying to get into a WalMart at 5am Friday morning, I nevertheless managed to enjoy the long weekend. The majority of the time was spent splayed on the couch, trapped by Law & Order (when you catch a marathon where there's no commercial break between episodes to let you escape before the new case starts you're done) and disrupting my sleep schedule with my nocturnal family. Weekend bonuses included catching a Big 5 game at the Palestra, seeing old friends and reminiscing, and (less pleasantly) being reminded of my age, whether by spending time at the bar with acquaintances from grade school who were in 1st grade when I was in 8th or seeing a friend get hit on by the friend of a girl she used to babysit. But as always, it's good to be home.

CNN made a believer out me re: Nick and Jessica. Totally Jessica's fault.
