Things that concern me today*
(*aka: things that are irrelevant in the face of larger world problems, such as AIDS, nuclear warfare, and, after watching "Chaotic," the prospect of Britney Spears procreating)
- Webber hates Iverson? How could anyone look in those big brown eyes and hate Iverson? And just because he dribbles too much no less. Iverson did nothing but defend Webber's poor play all season, so I hope it's a rumor. I think it'll be ok, if only b/c the New York Daily News is on par with In Touch in my mind, but my feelings are a far cry from that late night in February when I got a call about the trade.
- I realize I'm one of 7 people in the world worried about this, but when David Stern goes from "optimistic" to just "hopeful" I get a little jittery. The 98-99 lockout was rough, and I wasn't even that much of a fan back then. As long as they don't cancel Draft Day, which is just about a national holiday in this family.
- Bf recently suggested that I may have possibly "put on a few pounds" since moving, which is "no big deal," as long as it "doesn't turn into 5-10 more lbs". (Note: this makes him sound like a jackass, and he's not. I requested complete honesty.) It seems that trading daily gym visits, limited drinking, and big meals at home for no cardiovascular activity, college-level drinking, and fewer, smaller meals (frequently from fast food restaurants) here does not a slim Alexis make. So I'm going to start "running." **Those of you who need to be physically restrained to keep from running 10 miles a day, kindly skip the rest of this post. (Colleen, I'm looking at you...)** Bf thinks I'll be addicted once I start. Bf clearly doesn't know me. I've never been addicted to anything that prevented me from being sedentary. Plus, when I try to run, my face immediately gets really really red and stays that way for hours, indicating that my body doesn't want me overexerting myself. (Thanks body!) However, as of today I am in my mid-twenties, and while the ol' gene pool is full of youthful attitude, petiteness, and good health, it's not so much full of firmness. So exercise it is. Last week, I went 1.5 miles on the treadmill without stopping. This is a big accomplishment for me. I'm thinking I'm going to try to build up the goal of running, and not embarrassing myself, in the Longport American Mile later this summer. This will be a good start to my racing career because my competitors will largely be small children on bikes, and there are hot dogs at the fire house after. In the meantime, I would appreciate any and all advice and encouragement. I hear running outside is better than on the treadmill, but I get nervous when people see me running (I have a lazy image to uphold you know. That and I imagine them ridiculing me when I have to take breaks every 5 min.) For now, I will stick to the treadmill. I figured out I'm very entertained when I either listen to In Da Club and pretend to be 50 in the video, or pretend to be on stage performing the songs on my ipod. The latter is especially effective when I'm doing a duet with JT, and I believe is helping prepare me for my post-editor career as backup singer.

The mythical "Running Addiction" is fictional. I run at least three times a week and am not even close to addicted - I could give it up in a second. What I am addicated to however is being able to drink and eat copius amounts of alcohol and crappy food on the weekends and still fit into my pants. My running is really a money saver: it's much cheaper than a gym membership, expensive frutis and vegetables, and gastric bypass surgery. On a side note, Happy Birthday!

To put your "unfitness" into perspective, I have to "train" for the 5K Race for the Cure run/walk in a few weeks (I'm counting on the walk part). Too bad I only started last night. Running outside is a good excuse b/c either fellow runners or cars pass you quickly and are unable to track how long you've been actually running unlike in the gym. With that sound advice, hope you have a great birthday and don't go running today!
